CARDINHAM SCHOOL AND NURSERY

Where potential is nurtured and futures are inspired

Education that goes beyond the curriculum

Personal Development at Cardinham

Personal Development at Cardinham Primary School

At Cardinham Primary School, we see Personal Development as a vital part of school life and are ambitious in what we want every child to achieve. We believe that education is about much more than academic success; it is about helping children develop the knowledge, skills, values and experiences they need to become confident, resilient and responsible members of society. Our vision is to ensure that every child leaves Cardinham ready for the opportunities and challenges of the future.

Our Personal Development curriculum is woven throughout school life and is built around a broad range of experiences and opportunities. Children learn about healthy relationships, physical and mental wellbeing, online safety, economic understanding, equality, British Values and citizenship. Through our LifeWise and Natterhub programmes, dedicated assemblies, themed events and enrichment activities, pupils develop the confidence to make informed choices, stay safe and contribute positively to their communities.

We are committed to providing children with meaningful real-world experiences that broaden horizons and raise aspirations. Pupils benefit from visits, workshops and talks from professionals including the RNLI, police, fire service and healthcare workers, alongside careers assemblies that introduce them to a wide range of future opportunities. Leadership opportunities such as School Council, child-led clubs and community projects help children develop independence, responsibility and confidence.

Our unique rural setting, strong community links and extensive enrichment programme provide opportunities for outdoor learning, farm visits, residential trips, STEM events, sporting competitions and creative experiences. We believe these opportunities are essential in helping children discover new interests, develop character and create lasting memories.

At the heart of everything we do are our school values of being Ready, Respectful and Safe. Through our ambitious Personal Development curriculum, we aim to ensure that every child leaves Cardinham Primary School as a confident, compassionate and well-rounded individual, ready to make a positive contribution to modern Britain and the wider world.

Our curriculum road maps show how learning is carefully planned and mapped across each term, ensuring progression and coverage of key themes and experiences throughout a child's time at Cardinham. These road maps are also displayed around the school, helping children, staff and visitors understand the rich range of opportunities that form our Personal Development offer.
